La settimana scorsa ho avuto l'occasione di vedere i Polar for the Masses (a proposito, il loro nuovo disco "Blended" e' proprio bello, procuratevelo se potete) in un locale di Vicenza: la cornice (il plateau era uno dei portici della Basilica Palladiana) era classicamente suggestiva nel contrasto con il loro post-tutto (una recensione del caro Onan) "rumoroso". Purtroppo il concerto e' durato solo 5 canzoni perche' alle 10 di sera (non mezzanotte eh, le 10) il classico vicentino impiccione si e' lamentato dei volumi...
Spero almeno che sia riuscito a dormire dopo...
Last week i've had the opportunity to watch a live set by Polar for the Masses (by the way their last record "Blended" it's very nice, take it if you can) in a club in Vicenza: the location (the stage in one of the porticos of Basilica Palladiana) was classical suggestive with the contrast of their power-noise. Unfortunately the set it's been stopped only after 5 songs because at 10 pm (10, ok?, not midnight, 10) the usual nosey complained the volume...
I hope then he could fell asleep...

Oggi e' uscito, in Dvd e Blu-Ray, "Flight 666".
Il set si compone di due dischi: uno per il film ed uno per il live set (16 canzoni "filmate" in 16 diverse location).
Io ovviamente l'ho gia' comprato e gia' visto: posso dire tranquillamente che è il miglior documentario mai realizzato sui Maiden e che guardandolo si capisce perche' sono la band piu' amata del pianeta... Up the Irons!

Obviously i already bought and watched it: i can say, without any question, that is the best documentary about Maiden ever and watching it you will undestand why they are the most loved band in the world... Up the Irons!

Ce lo aveva pure detto che sarebbe stato un album onnicomprensivo di tutto questi ultimi due anni (sia artistici che personali), come del resto lo erano stati "American Doll Posse" e "The Beekeeper"...
Non ho ancora deciso se questa sua inclinazione a mettere nei dischi nuovi "tutto", pure cose che avrebbero potuto benissimo finire in qualche B-Side mi piace oppure no: fatto sta che sono 17 canzoni piu' una Bonus Track per quasi 80 minuti di musica. Da un punto di vista tecnico le conferme derivano dalla sua enorme capacita' di arrangiare e di interpretare e l'inserimento di qualche "acrobazia" delle sue qua e la. Il mood e' riflessivo e non aggressivo: ci sono molti picchi espressivi e qualche indugio nella nenia...tra qualche giorno sapro' dirvi di piu'...

I am not already sure if i like or not her penchant to put in new records "everything" also things that could have a good placing in possible B-Sides: in fact are 17 songs plus one Bonus Track for almost 80 minutes of music. From a technical point of view the confirms come from her huge ability in arrangement and in performing and the insertion, hither and yon, of some "acrobatics" usuals from her. The mood is reflective and not aggressive: there are many expressive tops and some linger in dirge...in a few days i could say something more...

Per chi vuole esser spedito in una dimensione emoelettronica con raffinati riferimenti eighties.
Corner e' tornato con il suo album piu' maturo: abbandonate (quasi del tutto) certe suggestioni volutamente sofferenti quello che rimane e' un'elegante Dark-Dream Pop malinconico ma non troppo. L'album che aspettavo per uscire dalla post-adolescenza "sonora" in cui mi aveva precipitato "From the Choirgirl Hotel" della Amos (che curiosamente aveva 35 anni quando lo scrisse come quelli miei e di Chris attuali). Di valore il duetto con Imogen Heap.
Nella colonna di destra il video di "Think of England" girato a Graz (io c'ero)
For those who want be sent in a emoelectonic dimension with eighties refine recalls.
Corner is back with his more mature album: left behind (almost all) certain deliberately "aching" suggestions the result it's an elegant Dak-Dream Pop, melancholy but not too much. The Lp that i was waiting for to come out from the "sounding" post-adolescence where i was threw by Amos' "From the Choirgirl Hotel" (who, curiously, was 35 years old when wrote it like me and Chris now). Very nice the duet with Imogen Heap.
In the rigtht column the video of "Think of England" took in Graz (i was there)

Ieri ho avuto la fortuna di vedere "Eraserhead" di Lynch in una sala cinematografica della mia citta' (avevo avuto modo di visionarlo solo in un vecchio vhs precedentemente) e devo dire che, a parte essere coinvolto dall'effetto romantico della pellicola usurata dal tempo, la carica espressionista e malata di questo piccolo capolavoro viene amplificata dal grande schermo e dall'audio che ne esalta gli ossessivi effetti sonori...
Un viaggio dentro una mente perversa ed gli occhi incapaci di staccarsi da tanto abominio: se vi capita aproffittatene, esperienza imperdibile.
Yesterday i had the good chance to watch "Eraserhead" by Lynch in a theatre of my town (previously i've had the occasion to screen it only in a old vhs) and i must say that, apart from to be involved by the romantic effect of the wasted by the time film, the expressionist and morbid drive of this little masterpiece it's amplified by the big screen and by the audio exalting the obsessive sound effects...
A trip inside a perverse mind and takes the one's eyes off was impossible to do from, so much,abhorrence: cash in on if you can, not to be missed experience.

Come mai era successo negli ultmi anni i "David di Donatello" sono stati veramente internazionali anche se "italiani". Vince, come da pronostico, "Gomorra" (7 premi tra cui Film e Regia) contro "Il Divo", che io tifavo anche se ho amato pure "Gomorra", (7 premi pure ma di minor peso rispetto al "rivale").
Sono particolarmente contento per il premio a Piera Degli Esposti che, come sapete, da queste parti è parecchio apprezzata, qui sotto la lista completa (non capiro' mai il premio al miglior produttore...)
As never happened in last years the "David di Donatello" were truly "internationals" even if "italians". As predicted won "Gomorra" (with 7 awards among which Movie and Director) against "Il Divo", that i supported even if i loved "Gomorra" too, (7 awards too but with not so importants like the "contender" ones).
I am particularly happy for the award to Piera Degli Esposti who, as you known, here is very appreciated, here below the full list (i will never comprehend the prize for the best producer...)
